PTW Celebrates National Indigenous People’s Day With Participation In The Moose Hide Campaign

We would like to take the opportunity to acknowledge National Indigenous Peoples Week happening across Canada. Every year, during the week of June 21, Indigenous and non-Indigenous people across Canada gather to celebrate, honour and remember First Nations, Métis and Inuit culture, traditions, history, and people.  We are honoured to participate in many of these events, either by contributing resources, speaking, participating on panel discussions, sharing knowledge or simply – and most importantly – celebrating relationships with our Aboriginal brothers and sisters.

We would like to send a special thank you to our Indigenous team members on this important day!

There are many events taking place across Canada this week, be sure to participate and celebrate the rich history of the First People of this land.

The Moose Hide Campaign:

One of the ways that PTW is implementing Call to Action 92 from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, is through The Moose Hide Campaign. Our participation in this initiative started in 2014 at *PTW Energy Services’ head office.

The Moose Hide Campaign is a grassroots movement of Indigenous and non-Indigenous men and boys who are standing up against violence towards women and children. Over the years it has grown into a national campaign to engage all Canadians, with over 1,000 participating communities and organizations across the country. The Moose Hide Campaign stresses that one of the most important things that we can do to help end violence against women and children is to promote gender equity, healthy relationships, and positive ideas of masculinity by speaking out against gender-based violence.

As an organization with a high percentage of male employees, we have the ability to do a lot of good by taking the pledge, wearing a moose hide patch, and standing up to end violence towards women and children.

Our Indigenous Partnerships Manager, Sandra Sutter, is available to assist you to host a Moose Hide Campaign in your location. You can reach her at ssutter@ptwenergy.com or 403-247-5758 (cell) 403-560-0452.
