Our Senior Leadership:

John W. Cooper

Chief Executive Officer

John W. Cooper serves as PTW Energy Services’ Chief Executive Officer and is an accomplished, results driven, entrepreneurial executive with over 30 years of leadership experience. Mr. Cooper is experienced in building high-performance teams and driving optimized organizational strategy and effective change in both public and private markets. He has served in various senior positions including as Chief Executive Officer of Tervita Corporation; President and Chief Executive Officer of ClearStream Energy Services Inc.; Chief Operating Officer of Savanna Energy Services Corp.; President and Chief Executive Officer at Enermax Services Inc.; and President of Superior Propane Inc. Mr. Cooper currently serves as an Independent board member of BluMaple Capital Partners and has been involved, in various capacities, with The Canadian Oilwell Drilling Contractor Association; The Canadian Executive Energy Association (CEEA); Imaging Dynamics Ltd.; The Canadian Propane Education & Research Council; The Calgary Handi Bus Association; The Propane Gas Association of Canada; and The Ontario Propane Gas Association. Mr. Cooper holds a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Economics from the University of Western Ontario and has completed numerous leadership courses during his career.


Gary Summach

Chief Financial Officer

Gary Summach joined PTW as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in February 2023. Gary has 24 years of professional experience with a focus on financial leadership and developing a strong results-driven and values-based working culture. He has held previous CFO roles with both publicly traded and privately owned service organizations, including Pacific Western Transportation from 2018 to 2023 and ClearStream Energy Services from 2015 to 2018. Prior to these roles, Gary held various senior financial positions with Trican Well Service from 2008 to 2015 and worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers from 1999 to 2007.Gary attended the University of Saskatchewan, where he earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a Masters of Professional Accounting degree. He is also a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada) and is on the Board of Governors for the Canadian Energy Executives Association (CEEA).


Kelly Lauritsen

Director, Quality Health, Safety & Environment

Kelly Lauritsen is the Director of Quality, Health, Safety & Environment and is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Quality, Health, Safety & Environment Management system at PTW. Mr. Lauritsen is a Canadian Registered Safety Professional and holds an Occupational Health & Safety certificate from the University of Alberta. Mr. Lauritsen joined the PTW family in 2006 as the Northern Safety Coordinator and has held a number of positions within the Company including Safety Officer, Safety Specialist and HSE Manager overseeing the Electrical & Instrumentation business. Prior to his time with PTW, Mr. Lauritsen worked in operations in the Oil & Gas industry as well as Forestry. Mr. Lauritsen sits as a Director on the board for the Whitecap Indigenous partnership and enjoys being active as a community volunteer as well, currently sitting as the President of the High River Flyers Junior Hockey Club and formerly President of the Peace River Minor Hockey Association, Peace River Minor Ball Association, Peace River Childcare Association as well as the Vice Chair of the Community Services Board with the Town of Peace River. Mr. Lauritsen’s favourite downtime activity is spending as much time as possible with his wife and two sons coaching hockey and baseball or getting out on the lake for some quality family time.


Dennis Senych

Vice President Branch Operations

Dennis Senych serves as PTW Energy Services’ Vice President of Branch Operations and is responsible for overseeing the management of our 40 Branches across Canada. Mr. Senych is duel certified as a Master Electrician and Red Seal Electrical Journeyman and holds a Project Management certificate from The Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT). Mr. Senych joined PTW in 1986 as a first-year electrical apprentice and has held a number of positions within the Company including Area Manager of our Redwater and Fort Saskatchewan Branches; District Manager to the Heartland, Drayton Valley, Edson, Whitecourt, Fox Creek, Valleyview, Grande Prairie and Hinton Branches; and Director of Operations for Northeast Alberta, Heartland and Saskatchewan. Mr. Senych is involved with The Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) Association to help develop electrical standards and best practices in Canada, and has worked with NAIT and Redwater High School to mentor new electrical apprentices in the Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP).


Mike Burnett

Vice President Construction

Mike Burnett is Vice President of Canadian Construction and is responsible for our mid to large cap construction projects, estimating and proposal functions, our modular division, and guiding our Indigenous business strategy. Mr. Burnett is certified as a Red Seal Electrician and has completed the Queen’s Executive Program through Queen’s University School of Business. Mr. Burnett joined PTW in 2003 as an Area Manager and has held various positions including Ops / Area Manager; Director of Northern Branch Operations; Director of Construction; Vice President Manufacturing; and Vice President US Construction. Mr. Burnett is a board member to all three of PTW’s formal Indigenous partnerships and previously was the President for Minor Hockey Valleyview and Ducks Unlimited Valleyview. Mr. Burnett served seven years in the Canadian Navy where he qualified as a Master Diver. He is also an avid hunter, fisher, diver, and traveller.


Surya Sagi

Vice President Structural Solutions

Surya Sagi serves as the Vice President of Structural Solutions at PTW Energy Services and is responsible for overseeing the management of our world-class 212,000 sq ft complex located on 40 acres in Rocky View County, Alberta. This facility specialises in manufacturing self-frame and rigid frame structures for use in energy infrastructure and other industries. Mr. Sagi brings over 20 years of experience in the manufacturing and custom fabrication industry sectors and previously served as the Vice President Operations Canada & US for DIRTT Environmental Solutions. Surya has gained impressive manufacturing experience from a number of diverse operational roles at Mercedes Benz, Magna International Inc., EVRAZ North America, and Metrie Canada. Surya graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University in India and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). Mr. Sagi loves to spend time with his wife and three daughters doing their favourite activities, while also sharpening his golfing skills whenever possible.


Rod Phillips

Vice President Sales

Rod Phillips serves as PTW Energy Services’ Vice President of Sales and is responsible for our business development activities and the execution of our long-term strategic direction. Mr. Phillips also works closely with our Structural Solutions team and our Indigenous partnerships. Mr. Phillips joined Terra Nova Industries in 1996 (acquired by Warwick) as an laborer in the building fabrication shop, and has held a number of increasingly senior positions over his 27 years in the industry, most recently serving as a Partner of PTW. In his spare time, Mr. Phillips is a passionate member of the Big Hearted Mavericks, a local not-for-profit which supports a number of children-charities, and he enjoys cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, Calgary Flames and Toronto Blue Jays, as well as spending time with his granddaughter.


Rob McDonald

Vice President Information Technology

Rob McDonald joined PTW as the Vice President of Information Technology (IT) in March 2018 and has over 30 years of professional experience in the IT industry, working for large national and international oil and gas companies. He has held previous senior roles including the Executive Director of IT for Newalta from 2014-2018, Director of IT Infrastructure also at Newalta from 2012-2014 and various roles with increasing responsibilities at Nexen. Rob attended Mount Royal University where he obtained a Telecommunication Management Certificate and he has also completed the Queen’s University School of Business Executive Program. Rob was involved in coaching minor hockey while raising 3 boys and enjoys playing hockey in his spare time.


Rachael O’Callaghan

Director, Human Resources

Rachael O’Callaghan is the Director, Human Resources and is responsible for developing and leading the human resources, marketing and communications programs. Mrs. O’Callaghan holds an undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Management, Major in Human Resources & Labour Relations from the University of Lethbridge. Rachael joined the PTW family in 2011 as the Receptionist in the Head Office in Calgary and has held a number of positions within the company including, Human Resources Coordinator, Human Resources Advisor and Human Resources Manager. With her strategic mindset, deep knowledge of HR best practices, and dedication to employee success, Rachael is a trusted advisor to senior leadership and a respected leader within the HR community. She is committed to continuously enhancing HR practices, driving organizational change, and delivering measurable results. In her spare time, she enjoys travelling and spending time with her husband and two daughters.
