Then & Now: Claire Sherwood

Claire Sherwood has built her career from hands-on experience in the trades to shaping PTW’s workforce.

Claire began in PTW’s modular yard in 2019 as an Electrical Journeyperson, wiring and building skids. By 2021, Claire had advanced to a lead hand role, planning daily tasks and guiding a crew. Claire then moved into major field projects, including shutdown work in Fort McMurray, where she installed and tested heat trace systems. Work in embedded maintenance at another client site followed, where Claire spliced cables, installed new equipment, and maintained critical systems. These years in construction and maintenance provided a deep, practical understanding of the technical skills and challenges of fieldwork.

In 2024, Claire joined PTW’s HR team as a Recruiter. Drawing on trade knowledge, Claire partners with managers to source, screen, and onboard candidates who are not only qualified on paper but also ready for the realities of fieldwork. Firsthand experience enables Claire to validate skills and identify strong fits, helping ensure new hires are equipped for success from day one.

Outside of PTW, Claire is a dedicated mom of three. In the winter, Claire travels with her oldest to figure skating competitions and clinics. In the summer, she enjoys lake days with her family—barefoot water skiing, slalom skiing, knee-boarding, and teaching her kids to ski. Claire also takes on home renovations, tackling projects around the house personally.

Claire’s journey from the field to HR reflects PTW’s commitment to developing talent from within and valuing employees with genuine trade experience.
