Then & Now: Levi Desjarlais
Levi Desjarlais is an Electrical Journeyman at our Athabasca branch, having dedicated himself to the company since 2011. Over the years, Levi has evolved into a respected leader in the industry, currently serving as an Electrical Foreman, where he oversees and guides crews on significant industrial projects.
“My focus each day is on safety, quality, and ensuring our teams are equipped for success,” Levi explains. “If I can simplify the work for my crew—whether through better planning, sharing trade tips, or just being available—I feel I’ve fulfilled my role.”
In his position, Levi makes sure that job sites operate efficiently, timelines are adhered to, and every team member is in a secure and productive work environment. His extensive experience and profound understanding of the trade enable him to lead by example, mentoring younger electricians and imparting valuable practical skills that bolster overall team performance.
Levi’s journey has been characterized by substantial contributions to major projects in the Athabasca region, including the successful completion of a crane project a local mill. “That project was a defining moment for us,” he recalls. “It challenged us, but it also highlighted our strength when we collaborate. That’s the essence of PTW—we show up and deliver results.”
Levi’s influence reaches beyond his professional responsibilities; he is deeply committed to his community. Growing up in the Buffalo Lake Métis Settlement, he retains strong connections to the land and the people who have shaped his life. He dedicates his time and skills to the Heart Lake First Nation and his home settlement, contributing to the maintenance of crucial infrastructure and supporting local services.
“Community means everything to me. I’ve been fortunate to build a fulfilling life through this trade, and I believe it’s essential to give back and help others achieve the same.”
Known for his reliability and steadfast leadership, Levi is respected across PTW. His crew benefits not just from his technical expertise but also from his attentive listening, guidance, and genuine investment in their success. “I’ve witnessed PTW grow and evolve, but what remains constant is our focus on people. That’s why I’m still here after all these years.”
In his free time, Levi indulges in his creative side and enjoys the outdoors. He enjoys 3D printing, graphic design, hunting, fishing, camping, and quadding with his family. He also takes an active role as a Master of Ceremonies at community events, showcasing his leadership skills across the region.
“My family is my everything. Whether we’re barbecuing, travelling, or cheering on the Oilers, they’re central to everything I do.”
