Adam X-1 Hala Plant Early Production Facility

Sindh, Pakistan

Overview

PTW was contracted to provide the electrical, instrumentation and controls engineering and related hardware, as well as on-site commissioning support. The control system consisted of a Rockwell Automation ControlLogix solution at the request of our client complete with a Wonderware operator interface and Data Historian for the main control system. The supplied control system was integrated into the different vendor skids controls which included: refrigeration liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) plant, sales compressor skid, amine plant, gas metering skid, and a gas recycle compressor.
Two production fields were introduced into the design; the initial Upper Basal Production deemed as sweet production and the Lower Basal Production deemed as sour. The design incorporated different control strategies to accommodate the two production fields. The project consisted of several vendor skids with independent controls that were integrated into a common basic process control system (BPCS) and a cyclic steam simulation (CSS).
The Adam X-1 Hala early production facility, located in Sindh, Pakistan, was designed to process and export up to 27.4 mmscfd of gas, 1,310 bbl/day condensate and up to 26 metric tons of LPG per day from the well effluent. The produced water is degassed in storage tanks and routed to an evaporation pit.
